About HandyHelp

Find out what makes us one of the fastest growing specialty healthcare providers in Minnesota

Our History

Handy Help LLC was incorporated in 2008 to provide quality, culturally specific services for intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), mental health and chemical dependency (MI/CD) clients.  Handyhelpllc was one of the first licensed providers to provide culturally specific services to clients who are eligible for waivered services in the state of Minnesota.

HH has developed an extensive network of cultural/community-based organizations and resources that are able to provide robust support to participants. With each year of operation, HH’s network has grown as culturally specific organizations and practitioners seek out HH personnel.

Over the last decade, HH continued to grow and expanded its programs providing trauma informed in-home therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation, peer support groups, independent living skills training, homemaking, adult companion, in-home support, Semi-living support, supportive housing services and the wraparound services under 245D (Adult corporate foster care, Behavioral Support, Independent Living Skills Training, In-home family support, 24-hour emergency assistance, Transitional Services) also known as the Individualized Housing Options (IHO) program.

As one of relatively few agency founded by a licensed social worker, Handy Help is deeply committed to ensure underserved populations experience barrier free access to services as well as cultural and linguistically appropriate services and resources.   To ensure HH staff meet the needs of each participant served, participant’s cultural and linguistic preferences are always noted in the assessment and case planning process, and services are made available in locations that are convenient to participants.

Our Mission

Through personalized and professional clinical attention, HandyHelp provides consistent and transformative care to its clients and empowers them to lead fulfilling, healthy lives.

While this statement may be timeless, as a specialty healthcare provider, we must deliberately review how we make that mission come alive for each and every one of our clients as we meet their needs in this ever-changing world.

Our Vision

Handy Help’s vision is to provide a thinking/person centered planning approach to services that are culturally and linguistically appropriate to those we serve.  We believe that people recovering from mental illness, substance use disorder, MI/CD and co-occurring disorders have special strengths, interests, aspirations, and abilities. The development of which is the key to recovery.  We believe the values of a recovery model including:

  • Recovery can occur even though symptoms may persist or reoccur;
  • Recovery is holistic, and focuses on the person, not just the symptoms;
  • Recovery is the shared message of hope and promotes self-efficacy.

At Handy Help we strongly believe that recovery surpasses the limits imposed by their disability and motivates the individual to seek and maintain fundamental social connections with one’s natural support.
