HOUSING STABILIZATION SERVICES (HSS)

 It is with great regret to inform you that The Housing Stabilization Services program ended at 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 31, 2025 in Minnesota .

The termination of the Housing Stabilization Services program in Minnesota has raised concerns about its impact on homelessness.  Advocates and social workers are expressing concerns that the program’s closure could leave some of the most vulnerable individuals without the necessary support to secure stable housing.  If you or someone you know is impacted by the termination of Housing Stabilization Services program, please contact their case manager to help connect them to other MA support services.  

 

THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF HOUSING STABILIZATION SERVICES:

hOUSING cONSULTATION

You can complete a consultation with our community partners or you can learn more about this Minnesota Medical Assistance benefit.  If you have a Mental Health Case Manager or an Aging and Disability Case Manager (CADI, BI, DD, or EW), you can request your case manager to assist you in initiating the process.

hOUSING TRANSITION

We assist program participant develop a strategic support to find and move into stable housing.  Other support assistance including but not limited to the followings:

  • Supporting the person in applying for benefits to afford their housing, including helping the person determine which benefits they may be eligible for.
  • Assisting the person with the housing search and application process.
  • Supporting cultural practice needs and communicating with prospective landlords
  • Identifying and connecting the person to available resources to pay for deposits, home goods, or cover moving expenses
  • Working to expunge records or accommodations to obtain stable housing
  • Identifying & connecting the person to available community services and benefits to achieve housing goal.

 

hOUSING sUSTAINING

We provide support and assistance to program participant to maintain stable housing in the community of their choice.  Supports including but not limited to the followings:

  • Develop a person-centered plan with the individual.
  • Support cultural practice needs and communicating with landlords
  • We advocate with community resources to prevent evictions and maintain the individual’s safety.
  • Identifying & connecting the person to available community services and benefits to achieve housing goal.
